Die Vergangenheit lässt sich - leider - nicht ungeschehen machen. Und es ist - offensichtlich - auch nicht hilfreich, wenn die Erinnerung nur als Appell (oft wohl bewusst) missverstanden wird, sich mitschuldig zu fühlen für etwas, auf das fast niemand, der heute noch lebt, wirklich Einfluss haben konnte. Natürlich erzeugt dies innere Abwehr und das ist auch gewollt, wenn Erinnerungskultur so missdeutet wird. Worum es wirklich geht: die furchtbare Vergangenheit als Mahnung, als Lehrbeispiel und zur Motivation zu nehmen, um Wiederholungen solcher Unmenschlichkeit zu verhindern. Denn diese Verantwortung haben wir. Und dazu können wir, die wir heute leben, auch real beitragen. Wer die Erinnerung verhindern will, will in Wahrheit die Möglichkeit der Wiederholung vorbereiten. Dazu gehört nicht nur die Verteufelung von Menschen mit Migrationsgeschichte, dazu gehört auch der Versuch, Menschen mit Behinderungen im Alltag unsichtbar zu machen. Und dazu gehört auch, den Schutz von Minderheiten und marginalisierten Gruppen zu diskreditieren. Alles dies erleben wir in den USA, es ist aber auch die Linie der AxD.
