Richard RollinsonFinally! Things have come together well enough for me to begin moving some of the hardier seedlings in to the greenhouse. It took a while to clean up the space to make room for things, because the greenhouse ends up being catch-all storage all winter. We have beets, cabbage, parsley, lettuce, viola Cleome and Verbena moved so far. I'll watch the weather and move more when I can. Richard RollinsonGot a clean bill of health from the surgeon on Monday, so I'm slowly getting back into garden work after having the gall bladder removed. Things are starting to sprout, even though it's been quite cold and wet. I think the tide is turning and the garden season is about to start. Richard RollinsonHad a minor setback on my gardening spring this year. My Gall bladder burst on 22 March and I've been in hospital until yesterday. My daughter (the Botanist) stepped in and came home for a few days to keep things ticking over in the propagation room. My somewhat limited mobility and lifting restrictions are going to make things interesting for a while... BroadforkEarly potatoes are dibbed in, covered with soil and then with hessian covers. I’m interested to see what the badgers do with them. The beds have been regularly visited by badgers rooting around for earthworms since autumn. BroadforkThe first nettle harvest of the year. Nettle soup will be on tomorrow’s menu and I’ll start making some nettle fermented plant juice too. Good food for us and good food for the plants. Colin PurringtonDug up some weeds today at the plot and left them to desiccate on a bucket for a few days (some have extensive roots). I like to display them, in part, as a lesson to other weeds that might be thinking about germinating (just don't).
