JDAnd second for today is the neglected Buttermilk Pie. This was delicious. Tangy and just sweet enough. Dishes like this are what make me sad to think about the homogenization of American foods. Regional cooking and baking used to be deeply tied to what a region produced, directly tied to climate, soil, and the peoples who made a home there. Even after modernization and grocery stores, food was still connected to regional companies which catered to regional taste.
