Helen Branswell<p>I missed this y'day about the new report from Minnesota of an <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/H5N1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>H5N1</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/birdflu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdflu</span></a> infected herd: The herd in question was previously infected. As such it's not going to be counted again.<br>Just guessing, but I'd wonder if the bulk milk testing showed they never managed to clear the earlier infection.</p>
Helen Branswell<p><a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/USDA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>USDA</span></a> confirmed another California dairy herd has been infected with <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/H5N1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>H5N1</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/birdflu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdflu</span></a>. That brings CA's total to 756. The CA Dept of Ag. says 422 of those herds have recovered &amp; cleared quarantine.<br>Cumulative national total = 990 herds in 17 states. This doesn't include the herd MN reported y'day.</p>
