Mika<p>Figuring out how to passthrough an <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/AMD" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#AMD</a> iGPU to a <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Linux" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Linux</a> VM on <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Proxmox" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Proxmox</a> is just..... something not within my capacity atm lol. Maybe someday if I happen to have an additional test hardware I could potentially fuck with without screwing my main environment, and if I manage that then I could update my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/homelab" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#homelab</a> wiki on how to do it. For now though, I think I can live without transcoding on <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Jellyfin" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Jellyfin</a> or <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/ErsatzTV" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ErsatzTV</a> :))</p>

Sexybiggetje🐖<p>Hmm <a href="https://ieji.de/tags/jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jellyfin</span></a> on Android tv and hevc + dts never really works. Should debug that, as the issues on GitHub seem to be either resolved without resolution or stale. I wonder if I could create a simple testvideo for that.</p><p>I'm unsure how to debug it on the device, as it just says player error and gives up after a few tries. The server logs just report playback stopped. Playing files in my webbrowser works fine.</p><p>Cc <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@hetisniels" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>hetisniels</span></a></span></p>
Tobias Hellgren<p>Did you know? One of the best ways to support your favorite artists is still by purchasing their albums. Even if they received 100% of the royalties from streaming, it would take at least 10,000 streams for an artist to earn the same amount as from a single album sale.</p><p>When was the last time you listened to anything 10,000 times?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.chuggybumba.com/tags/GoPhysical" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoPhysical</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.chuggybumba.com/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Plex</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.chuggybumba.com/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.chuggybumba.com/tags/Emby" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Emby</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.chuggybumba.com/tags/Kodi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kodi</span></a></p>

Paul Chambers🚧<p>It burns my biscuits and scorches my gravy not having OTA reception.😡 </p><p>I really miss having OTA TV reception. Where we have lived since 2019, we get zero channels. We probably wouldn't have bought this house and moved here had we known that.</p><p>There is no reasonable antenna that will pull reception, either. </p><p>My brother has fiber and I have been putting off building a box to stick <a href="https://oldfriends.live/tags/NextPVR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NextPVR</span></a>, <a href="https://oldfriends.live/tags/JellyFin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JellyFin</span></a> and my TV tuner cards in so I could stream OTA from his home two hours away and record TV again. There was a lot of sub channels, like movies, etc in our old region where he lives, which is technically ours, too.</p>

Rob Adamson<p>I’ve seen Mastodon, Pixelfed devs and admins have to repeatedly ask for help with the costs for creating and running things and getting grief when they do so. It’s a particular bugbear of mine, that people can’t undertstand someone, somewhere along the line is forking out money to support what they take for granted and for free! Whoever cracks micropayments for FOSS that are fast, safe and secure will change the Internet for us all. /end <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Plex</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a></p>
Rob Adamson<p>It’s been a journey with them but Plex is an intrinsic part of my set up. The company’s financial model was prob unsustainable especially with the low cost of a Lifetime Pass which I think cost me £79 back in the day. In the last year we saw layoffs and a strategic rethink after some missteps. It was at this time I set up Jellyfin as a just in case option. We have to figure out better ways to support software devs. It costs money to make things. Devs shouldn’t need to beg! /2 <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Plex</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a></p>
Rob Adamson<p>I say this as someone who has both <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Plex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Plex</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a> set up on my server. I am beyond tired of the overreactions and at times childish bloviating to Plex changing their pricing and free offering this past week. I’ve used Plex for 12 years. It was free to download and install. Allowed me to watch my DVD/Blurays without having to swap out disks. Game changer. I then purchased a Plex Lifetime Pass to help support the software. They struggled at first with 4K but now very solid and reliable. /1</p>
Atomic Kate<p>does anyone know of a service (preferably <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/selfhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosting</span></a>) that notifies you about new releases from <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> artists?</p><p>ideally it would be a tool that generates an rss feed, i don't need yet another app or web interface.</p><p>if self-hostable, i want to automate the list of artists by reading those from <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jellyfin</span></a>, so i never have to do that manually.</p><p>boost very welcomed!</p>
