This standard exists and is present in discourse - both in media terminology and in the statements of politicians, leaders and opinion makers. The attempt to blur this distinction is essentially an attempt to erase the existence of the asymmetrical situation between the occupier and the occupied, between the oppressor and the oppressed. It begins with the expulsion of residents from more than 600 villages in 1948 and 1949, continues with military rule and a more elegant occupation with a military legal system of 'Civil Administration.'
