nixCraft 🐧<p>Quick tip! You can actually see the changelog details for Debian/Ubuntu packages, which includes security info, CVEs, package urgency, and a short description. Super helpful for figuring out if you need to patch right away or schedule downtime, especially if you're working with clusters. For example, here is how to see info about the nginx:</p><p>apt changelog nginx</p><p>See <a href="https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-ubuntu-linux-show-package-changelog-command/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-ubunt</span><span class="invisible">u-linux-show-package-changelog-command/</span></a> for more info.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>debian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ubuntu</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/security" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>security</span></a></p>
Mr Lawrence 🇷🇼<p>Have peered inside my miniature PC ahead of its <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ubuntu</span></a> augmentation. It only has one M.2 slot for its <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> 500GB SSD so the new drive will have to use a spare SATA bus. Partly to save money, partly because it’s just an experiment but mostly so I can distinguish the new drive from the old one, I’ve ordered a Samsung 250GB SSD. (I was also keen not to buy American, of course.) Next step will be preparing installation media for both OSes (in case something bad happens to the Windows 11 drive).</p>
