Dave Rahardja
Well folks, it finally happened. I forgot my phone’s passcode.

For the first time in decades, I can’t remember my passcode. Years of muscle memory finally desynchronized from its numeric representation, and I can’t tap the correct numbers. I SWORE it’s one sequence, but my phone says it isn’t.

It’s no big deal; I have a recent backup, and an erase/restore allows me to enter a new passcode (which I swore was the same as my old one), and I got my data back. But I never thought this would happen to me.

I guess the lesson here is to keep a #backup?

@nixCraft I use rdiff-backup and external hard drives.

rdiff-backup is a command line tool in the #Linux world designed for differential backups of changed files. Saves disk space. And allows you to restore the latest version of your #backup easily with every filemanager.

World's backup day today. Coincidentally I did check whether I can mount my backups and see the files in them today morning. Today is also my manual backup day.

Go make sure your backups are working, test them, because untested backups are no backups at all. Make sure you have multiple copies, one in off-site location, because physical incidents can happen.

And as a reminder, the most precious for you to backup will always be your very first ever #Minecraft world, even if you don't realize that at the time. :blobcatmeltcry:

Happy World Backup Day!

As they say on Qo'noS: Today is good day to not lose your data!

Don't forget to verify your backups from time to time. A backup you haven't checked that you can successfully restore from is worse than useless: it gives you a false sense of security.
