Zazzoo 🇨🇦
Trudeau initiated what is best described as a war-effort-scale economic transformation that I am completely on board with. Informed by my IT job: Never be left at the mercy of a single point of failure.

I can't imagine anybody but Carney overseeing this project. Poilievre would undo it and sell us out, the NDP lack the experience and connections to be successful. So Liberals it is, just for the hump.

But let's dump the banker and focus on what's important in four years, m'kay?

2/2 #CdnPoli

Ned Yeung
This boils my blood. I don't know the US labour history, but I do know how hard public sector workers in Canada and Alberta had to fight to gain collective bargaining rights, which they were not allowed because they were "civil servants".

All public worker strikes were wildcat strikes and illegal until 1967 when Federal workers gained the right to collective bargaining through the Public Service Staff Relations Act which took 2 years to pass through Parliament after the wildcat Postal Workers Strike of 1965.

Federal government employees responded by joining unions in record numbers.

Public sector workers in Alberta did not gain these rights until 2016, when the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that ALL Canadian workers have the fundamental right to strike, essential to even the playing field between workers and employers.

That hasn't even been 10 years ago, that our Provincial healthcare workers, education workers, social workers, wildlife workers, custodial workers, and many more have had access to such basic fundamental rights to legal collective job action! You may not have realized that all these strikes you are seeing now are history in the making!

We are living out a struggle for the right of the working-class to SURVIVE.

It breaks my heart to see our fallen comrades losing this fight with such desperation to the south, and makes me fearful of the coming storm we will have to face in Canada as our populist shadow government pushes to put us down in Canada.

#union #unionstrong #cdnpoli #abpoli #uspol #strike

May Likes Toronto
I want to expand on why this is bad policy.

1. Expanding and investing in our public healthcare by covering dental care and pharmacare.
-> This has already been done. What does progress look like from here on?

2. Securing a national lunch program to feed hungry kids and save working families money.
-> 1 in 5 Canadians live in food insecurity. A lunch program doesn't even come close to addressing the problem. What about a national basic goods retailer? What about a basic income so people don't have these struggles in the first place?

3. Standing up to bullies like Donald Trump and Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives threatening our way of life.
-> The Conservatives are irrelevant. This is fear politics. There's no POLICY here.

Action:
1. Eliminating federal fossil fuel subsidies saving us $1.8 billion per year.
-> Okay? What about the other resource extraction monopolies? What are you going to do with these savings?

2. Protecting Canadian jobs with the NDP Build Canadian Buy Canadian Plan.
-> I looked this one up. Boils down to use Canadian steel, change federal procurement to favour Canadian and unionized workplaces, and increasing minimum built in Canada stuff. Set EI to a flat $450/week up to 50 weeks for everyone. Lower requirement to 360 hours or 12 weeks of employment.
That's $22,500 a year. Oh boy!

3. Building rental, co-op, and rent geared to income housing.
-> This is great, but how will this be different from what's already happening? Are you going to create a national developer/builder? Is it going to be the same old tax schemes for for-profit developers who run Ontario?

This is the problem. It's all so shallow and doesn't come close to speaking to all the people who need help now. This reads like a Liberal mailer card.

Where do we talk about GOOD jobs? Jobs that pay enough for us to survive? Poverty? Quality of life?

This is the best the socialist movement has to offer? I'm glad they went and took over the Green Party instead.

#cdnpoli
