Another viscerally unpleasant morning, with a cold rain coming down. It's not super heavy — in fact light enough that I leave my umbrella behind — but it makes up in spiteful chill what it lacks in volume. I arrive at 7:30 and set up; today's hand-held sign is 2021 IPCC REPORT: "CODE RED" FOR HUMANITY. Craige arrives a minute or two later.

It's considerably colder this morning, with temperatures slightly below freezing. So I'm back in winter boots and multiple layers, arriving at Roosevelt Circle on the dot of 7:30 and setting up my signage. Today's hand-held message is MOTHER NATURE DOESN'T CARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE. Craige arrives a minute or so later and we touch base briefly.

Monday starts with me rolling out of bed just seconds before the alarm and making a pre-vigil coffee, then heading out into the world. It's warmer, in the mid-40s F (which allows me to wear sneakers), and extremely foggy. I reach Roosevelt Circle at 7:30 and set up my ALL-BLACK SIGNAGE as I do every Monday in our Brave New World. No Craige today.

And here it is Friday. I roll out of bed with the alarm, drink a pre-vigil coffee to get my blood flowing again, and hit the road, arriving at Roosevelt Circle at 7:30 and setting up my signs. Last night I slept long and soundly, waking up refreshed a few minutes before the alarm and heading out to Roosevelt Circle in reasonably fine fettle, arriving at 7:31 and greeting Craige (who's putting in extra time when he can), then setting up my big sign and holding up MOTHER NATURE DOESN'T CARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE.

I slept poorly last night and this morning feel sluggish and burdened, as if I'm wearing ankle weights. I wake before the alarm and get ready, leaving on time and arriving at Roosevelt Circle at 7:29 for a solo vigil (Craige's out till Monday). It's foggy and slightly drizzly, and I've brought an umbrella along. After affixing my big sign to the post, I hold up EVERY DISASTER MOVIE STARTS WITH A SCIENTIST BEING IGNORED, leaving the brolly furled for the moment.
