Doodle 🏳️‍🌈<p>At long last...an actual gameplay loop! Up until now, levels haven't really been connected in any meaningful way (aside from sub areas). Now there is a hub area which you can beam up to at any point, and it's from there that you'll travel to other levels and also upgrade abilities. I might change the floor portals at some point, but it kinda works I think</p><p><a href="https://equestria.social/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a></p>
unfa🇺🇦<p>A creative outburst.</p><p>I spent some time With Godot 4.4 today, and took it for a ride. Feels a bit like demoscene :D</p><p>The project in ZIP is under 16K ;)</p><p>I'll probably drop the source on Codeberg soon so you can run this and see it in motion.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3D</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/space" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>space</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/abstract" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>abstract</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Godot</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/realtime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>realtime</span></a></p>

Doodle 🏳️‍🌈<p>Did a little pause menu work, adding checkmarks so you can see what you've accomplished so far. Technically the list is incomplete because of the way I'm building it (sub areas are not included). So that's a problem to resolve eventually.</p><p><a href="https://equestria.social/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a></p>

After lots of state and signal wrangling today and fiddling around with Control nodes, I have a fully working game-loop with menus now! I think I'm finally getting the hang of Godot UI, maybe.</p><p>Next up, highscore storage, maybe a scoreboard? I at least want to see what my best score is, and maybe... maybe adding some sounds since I've been avoiding it.</p><p>There's so much I *want* to add to improve, for example, some basic transitions between states would be nice. But if let myself keep going I'll never be done. :)</p>
Chris Renfrow<p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/cr20gc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cr20gc</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/devlog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devlog</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a></p><p>Ha, I found the source of the problem with my segment system in the first five minutes of work. 😂 It came down to a rather silly design pattern I thought I had phased out already but hadn't and was causing my hazards to randomly never arrive on screen, therefore they would never despawn which really gummed-up the works! </p><p>So that's fixed now, and some of the segment spawning behaviors are a little more refined and predictable now too, so tomorrow I'll be moving on to the other items on the agenda.</p>
Chris Renfrow<p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/cr20gc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cr20gc</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/devlog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devlog</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a> </p><p>Oof, fell out of the saddle with these updates, or making any progress to speak of for that matter. But I'm getting back into it now and trying to get Jetpack Joyride wrapped up and pushed out along with its accompanying blog post by the end of this upcoming week at the latest.</p><p>The key items on my agenda are (in order of importance):<br>- Fix my very broken segment system once and for all.<br>- Get the menus in place (Start, Game-over/restart). <br>- Implement scoreboard.<br>- Finish player animations.</p>
DearFox<p>Ну выходит все. <a href="https://meow.social/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a> сломался и больше я его запустить не могу. И остановить тоже. Я его принудительно закрыл и вот на этом все.</p>
Doodle 🏳️‍🌈<p>Slowly making more progress on this level. Been feeling a little less inspired for creating unique challenges this time around, but also accepting the fact that's okay.</p><p>Honestly, this project is really trying to be bigger than I can chew on, and I'm forcing myself to let it be smaller and inevitably get the feedback that it's too short or not as engaging as a mainline 3D platformer. And like...yeah, of course it's not going to be. I'm one person. I'd rather it be mediocre and done than never finished.</p><p><a href="https://equestria.social/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://equestria.social/tags/godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>godot</span></a></p>
