VegPlotter<p>Sow radishes with carrots, parsnips, onions &amp; more in March–April. They sprout fast, marking your rows within days! Harvest in 4–6 weeks to clear space for slower growers. A simple, clever trick to track growth &amp; boost success. <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/growyourown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>growyourown</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/veggiegarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>veggiegarden</span></a></p>

Pollinators<p>April 2, 2025. It was planting day for the tomatoes. We held ourselves to twenty starts. These tomatoes aspire to be tasty. The soil blocks worked well. The outside world transitioned from snow covered to clear again today as last nights snow gradually melted. <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/growyourown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>growyourown</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/minnesota" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>minnesota</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/Zone4b" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Zone4b</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/tomatoes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tomatoes</span></a>, <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/kasundi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kasundi</span></a>.</p>

clarebee<p>Fellow Northern Brits - what seeds are you sowing out already? </p><p>Saw a forecast for frosts/snow (!) later in April and now not sure what I'm doing... No greenhouse, v limited windowsill acreage... Still go ahead with broad beans/beetroot etc? </p><p>Thanks! </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/allotment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>allotment</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/GrowYourOwn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrowYourOwn</span></a></p>
VegPlotter<p>Beetroot seeds have a natural germination inhibitor, requiring heavy rain to sprout. Speed up the process by soaking them in lukewarm water for 24 hours. Sow while still damp, and seedlings should emerge in 10-14 days. <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/GardeningTips" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GardeningTips</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/GrowYourOwn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrowYourOwn</span></a></p>

Colin Purrington<p>Dug up some weeds today at the plot and left them to desiccate on a bucket for a few days (some have extensive roots). I like to display them, in part, as a lesson to other weeds that might be thinking about germinating (just don't). In a few days I'll slide them into the nearby pit of despair for eventual burial. <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/GrowYourOwn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrowYourOwn</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/garden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>garden</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/allotment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>allotment</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/weeds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weeds</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/composting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>composting</span></a></p>
