BobginpghI glued the bubinga fingerboard to the <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/bass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bass</a> neck this afternoon. The hard maple neck is reinforced with 2 (probably overkill) carbon fiber rods and a truss rod. Inlays and side markers are Total Boat <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/epoxy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#epoxy</a> with Black Diamond Pigments for the blue/green color. Paco Hope #resistSpent some time with my best friend today, who is a bit of a <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/luthier" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#luthier</a> himself. Changed the strings to flat wound chromes (my favourite) polished the frets, filed the nut (actual bone nut) to get it a bit more even. Had to open up the B string’s slot in the nut because the flat wound B was a tiny bit fatter than the original. Made sure it had good contact with the zero fret.Intonation is good. Action feels great. It’s a better instrument than I deserve. Gotta get better at playing! It plays like a whole new <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/bass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bass</a>. Made from a piece of Bubinga I’ve had for many years with Total Boat epoxy inlays, I’m installing the frets here using my drill press and an eBay fret press caul.
