Trump has lied about imaginary contingent of Ukrainian soldiers "nicely encircled"—& needs to present Putin's fake scenario in those terms because it also gives Russian troops credit for something they didn't do.
Lying about the extent to which Russia has an advantage on the battlefield strengthens his hand in CONCEDING to Putin.
