When is it the right thing to do?</p><p>Depends on the character and the situation. I may know from the beginning who is going to die and how. There are scenes where character makes a choice that turns out to be fatal, intentionally or not. But gratuitous killing of apparent protagonists is not my style.</p>

As I explain to my writers' group, I just chronicle what the voices in my head are doing.<br><br>It's right to kill a character when it's their time to die. </span><i>How</i> they die is yet another expression of their character to me. Same with the aftermath amongst the living around them.<p></p>
