Here’s how the scoops turned out. They work really well with my kitchen crocks and the handles feel nice to hold. #beautility #functionalpottery #pottery #ceramics #keramik #terrasigillata #handmade

Spot the difference!
Our beautiful little leafy house friend arrived a few days ago, all the way from France. Lovingly hand made by the amazing @moonrabbit.
I absolutely love all their work. You can check out their other beautiful items here:
I made a dragon pot for @zmeyche
The body and the lid are wheel thrown. All the other details are sculpted by hand. I fired the dragon in my wood kiln at 1250°C.

an update on our cute little cup:
It wanted to be an espresso, or mini #tea cup.
so I put an itty bitty handle on it!
this is going to be fun to decorate :)
i'm trying to stay away from making cups (my pottery comfort zone) but after throwing a bunch of lids and spouts, i had a little nub of clay left, and decided to make this tiny little shot glass or espresso cup 'for fun'. it's sooo cute!!! These will be great for glaze testing.
Latest batch of handmade sgraffito tiles out of the kiln. #ceramics #sgraffito #pottery
New blog post: I started sharing images & info from out-of-print book #NigerianPottery which contains photos of pots I haven't seen anywhere online, particularly with this level of regional detail.
I’m hoping access to such visual archives might inform contemporary practice – both for those reconnecting with heritage and anyone invested in global ceramic histories. Will be adding to this gradually as I work through the material.
Here's some #pottery that I will fire tomorrow! Most of the pieces are based on historical objects but there are also some of my own designs. Ask away if you want to know more about a specific piece!

unfired porcelain ready for the kiln!
The daily teapot challenge has been a lot of fun, but after 16 teapots, but it's time for something new. Thanks all for following-hope you will stay tuned to see what I create next!
It takes me at least a couple of hours to decorate a pot this size. I brush three layers of terra sigillata into each section, alternating the different types of clay in a rhythmic symmetry. Then I’ll bisque fire the pot, apply glaze and fire one last time. I haven’t made as much progress this week as I would have liked so I may end up working a bit this weekend, which is something I try to avoid. Have a good weekend, everyone.

I’m ending the week on one of my favorite parts of the process—selecting coordinating hues of glaze and terra sigillata to paint my pots. I started working this way about a year ago. After collecting clay samples for many years, I finally began using them to decorate my pottery. It has added so much to my work in terms of cultural expression and connection to the Earth. As with all tutorials, some key instructions are missing but it does give you the opportunity to fill in the gaps with your own creativity and make the design your own. I’m happy with my first attempts, but I’d still like to tweak my version over time.
i'm challenging myself to make a teapot every day.
Here's day #15
We had a storm last night here in Kentucky - april showers bring may flowers
This is unfired porcelain. decorated and ready for the kiln!
I'm still working on today's teapot #15, but earlier today ((( THIS ))) came out of the kiln!!!
A collector came to claim it before i even had a chance to get a good photo, but I did get a chance to make this sloppy stop motion, while their 3 year old was crawling all over me! Parents are such amazing people!!!

This is unfired porcelain. decorated and ready for the kiln!
Four forest friends, so wild, so free,
Bound by love and harmony.
Color, gender, who they love—
It matters not, just hearts above.
Through rustling leaves and skies so wide,
They stand together, side by side.
