@batuhancoskun and @hasan : I guess it's never too late to learn more about your country and it's people.

Probably most people in the Netherlands, like me, who have never visited Türkiye (or did, but visited touristic places only) have some vague idea of what your country "is about".

I've been lucky to have had colleagues with Turkish roots, but their background (their parents often are very conservative) does not necessarily represent the feelings of the "average" Turkish citizen - of course "average" is a too gross simplification.

I'm looking forward to learning more! I'll be using the "translate" button for toots in Turkish to learn more about you and your country. The internet has a lot of issues (I've seen a lot of scams targeting Turkish people), but being able to communicate with individuals all over the world is a nice feature.

Anyway, nice to meet you!

“Ankara is too important an ally to alienate, no matter what happens on the streets of Istanbul, politicians and officials tell POLITICO.

The European Union is set to keep pumping billions of euros into Turkey despite President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s sweeping crackdown on political opponents.”

Write him a fucking blank cheque, why don’t you, you spineless, racist blocks of cheddar. And why? Because he helps keeps the Brown people away from our pristine white shores.

I swear the next person who uses the words “European values” non-sarcastically in my presence will wish they’d stayed in bed that morning.

BREAKING NEWS 🚨

Turkiye Protests Worked!

A Turkish court jusr dismissed charges against Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on suspicion of terrorism offences, but extended his detention on suspicion of corruption offences. This means that the Turkish government will not be able to appoint a replacement for the mayor, and Imamoglu's opposition party will choose his successor.
