Just attempted to go shopping for clothes, and while I know the quality has gone down across the board it was sad to see how much quality has dropped.

Even on so called luxury brands, the quality has dropped dramatically, the cloth, the stitching, the material it has all gone downhill.

For example quite a few clothes I came across used overlocking for structural parts without using another stitch to actually provide strength.

At this point I am honestly considering getting a sewing machine, some bolts of fabric, some patterns and attempting to sew my own clothes.

My husband requested a circuit board design for this t-shirt, in green, of course. I didn’t have quite enough of the main fabric left to cut out the front and back in whole pieces. There was a big chunk missing at the shoulder. So I asked my husband if circuits ever had a reason for two of them to be joined together, so I could fill in the space, and he said sure. When circuit boards are fabricated, the machines make a whole panel of them at a time and they’re connected together with lines of perforation, called mouse bites, so they can later be snapped apart into separate pieces. So that’s how I filled in the gaps at the corners with scrap fabric to make them look intentional.

Mostly 100% cotton jersey, cotton and polyester thread, gold acrylic paint

#sewing friends, I'm somewhat incapacitated and watching cozy sewing videos on YouTube is one of the things I can do today, with my limited energy and brain power.

I have basically watched Bernadette Banner's channel up and down.

Do you have recommendations for costuming/sewing channels? Bonus points for queer creators.

Ugh, AI has seeped into sewing patterns.

Just been looking for a couple of new patterns, and the reviews are full of complaints that the instructions don't make any sense and that pattern piece sizing is wrong, and that the pattern pieces don't line up 😩

I made a new dress from wool my grandmother bought many (many) years ago. A combination of the Ashland dress bodice and Misses’ fit and flare skirt (m7599) with added pockets and the tiniest pleat. Also, topstitching. That hem is very long. #sewing

Continued thread

Mostly finished. First time I tried to turn it right side out one of the seams came completely apart, there's others that might follow suit under load, we'll see.
The cardinal cracks me up. I feel an urge to fill it with sunflower seeds and bike to parks and feed birds!

Still got a maned wolf looking for a new home. Currently inhabiting an Ikea portable cupboard. :D Probably the most complicated fluff thing I made yet. Well, apart from fursuits. :neofoxsnugnervous:
