In an extraordinary blunder, key figures in the admin– including Vance, Hegseth, Rubio, and Gabbard– used Signal to discuss plans– while also including a prominent journalist.

The Atlantic rappelle non sans ironie que Trump, en tant que candidat à la présidence puis comme président), a exigé à plusieurs reprises qu’Hillary Clinton soit emprisonnée pour avoir utilisé un serveur de messagerie privé à des fins officielles lorsqu’elle était secrétaire d’État... Quel hypocrisie... tandis que lui-même a été poursuivi pour avoir conservé des documents top secret chez lui à Mar-a-Lago. Fachos et incompétents.
Quand le journaliste Jeffrey Goldberg a quitté la boucle, aucun des autres participants n'a moufté. Autre problème, le conseiller de Trump à l'origine de cette initiative désastreuse sur Signal a configuré des messages du groupe pour qu'ils disparaissent après une semaine, et d'autres membres après quatre. Or, les messages concernant les actes officiels sont considérés comme des archives qui doivent être conservées, selon la loi US.
Outre le secrétaire d'Etat à la Défense, le suprématiste Pete Hegsteth, le vice-président JD Vance a lui aussi participé à cette boucle Signal illégale en diffusant des informations top secrètes sur l'attaque US contre les rebelles Houthis au Yémen. Une "fuite" inédite dans l'Histoire américaine, selon The Atlantic. On apprend notamment que le "VP" est en désaccord avec Trump sur sa gestion de la crise de Suez

I'll admit moving to #Signal had been a flop. Core family members joined but reluctantly, my brother and the couple of friends I have won't join.
My 92 yo grandma living abroad understandably won't join.
