Tested the latest #GNOME #Snapshot on #postmarketOS on my #PINE64 #PinePhonePro! It's been a while since I revisited the PinePhonePro but with cameras and camera utilities coming a long way on newer devices I wanted to revisit #libcamera on the PinePhones. I installed @NekoCWD's cameractrl and it successfully controls focus, but the PPP camera seems to have autoexposure that reduces the utility of cameractrl's exposure slider. Anyways, here's a picture of some other postmarketOS devices.
With that said, I'd also like to thank Cantarell for more than a decade in service of #GNOME.
I know a lot of people switched to the new #Adwaita fonts right after their conception, but I've actually sticked with Cantarell 'till the very end except for some light testing. Just upgraded to the latest Fedora beta with the new fonts, and it's a whole new world!
This is the culmination of years of discussion and research by many people, but @monster deserves a special thanks for spearheading this particular solution and pushing the initiative over the finish line once and for all.
Mom played around a bit with #GNOME and #niri, and she'll be switching to #niri, because she concluded that tiling is awesome.
She's in the "some floating is okay" camp, though, so I'll let niri decide what to float and what not. But she'll be tiled-by-default, with tabbed columns.
AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT: She decided that notmuch, Org Roam, and Emacs are all incredible tools, and she wants to learn them.
What have I done.
GNOME 48 Core Apps Update – Michael Catanzaro's Blog
Good news for those who were subscribed to the #GNOME releases/development schedule using #GNOMECalendar or @EvolutionGnome: as per https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Websites/release.gnome.org/-/issues/55, the calendar HTTP and webcal links on https://release.gnome.org/calendar/ have been fixed today.
Those calendars now officially live on that subdomain, so you may want to update the subscription URLs in your app.
