Spent some time with my best friend today, who is a bit of a #luthier himself. Changed the strings to flat wound chromes (my favourite) polished the frets, filed the nut (actual bone nut) to get it a bit more even. Had to open up the B string’s slot in the nut because the flat wound B was a tiny bit fatter than the original. Made sure it had good contact with the zero fret.

Intonation is good. Action feels great. It’s a better instrument than I deserve. Gotta get better at playing!

It plays like a whole new #bass. I’m super pleased.

On to the fingerboard for the #Bass project. Made from a piece of Bubinga I’ve had for many years with Total Boat epoxy inlays, I’m installing the frets here using my drill press and an eBay fret press caul.
