These little guys are real favourites of mine. Was very excited to see them this morning, and for the rest of the morning we spotted them everywhere. The females have orange where the males have blue.

Shot taken in Dhampus, near Pokhara. I believe this is Heliophorus moorei (Azure Sapphire). Or something very similar. We've been enjoying so many species of Lycaenidae up here, from pale blue to purple and grey. But these azures are my faves.

This fella gave us a good sessions, waited patiently for us to take turns. Love the tiny little flourishes of colour that you just don't see until poking a macro lens into his orbit.

Black and white stripped butterfly in Nepal. Or is he White and Black? I cannot say for certain.

medium-sized butterfly with wings painted in warm shades of orange-brown, adorned with bold black spots and streaks across both forewings and hindwings. Now, focus on the underside of the hindwings; here lies a key identifier: shimmering, silvery streaks or patches that catch the light, like strokes of bright metal on a darker canvas. This striking contrast gives the Silver-washed Fritillary its name. Its flight is often strong and gliding as it moves through woodlands, seeking out its larval food source: the leaves of various violet plants. This butterfly is a creature of European and Asian woodlands, bringing a flash of warm color and metallic shimmer to its native habitats

I planted a lot of native #milkweed this year to support the #monarch #butterflies and they were discovered quickly because the milkweed are now full of monarch #caterpillars. This one was found wandering up a stem of mealy blue sage after it and its siblings munched a nearby milkweed down to bare stems.

Mit zermatschter Banane ließen sich einige Erdbeerbaumfalter vom Kothaufen weglocken. Sieht nicht gar so auffällig aus. Netter Nebeneffekt war, dass die ansonsten eher unruhigen Biester ganz umgänglich wurden und auch mal sitzen blieben.
