Dodental in Gaza stijgt naar 50.000 Het aantal doden in Gaza in de oorlog tussen Israël en Hamas is gestegen tot 50.000. Dat meldt de Gazaanse gezondheidsautoriteit, die onder controle staat van Hamas. Daarnaast zouden er volgens Hamas sinds 7 oktober 2023, toen de oorlog begon met de aanslag van Hamas op Israël, zeker 113.000 gewonden zijn gevallen. De Gazaanse gezondheidsautoriteiten maken in de cijfers geen onderscheid tussen gesneuvelde Hamas-strijders en burgerslachtoffers. Volgens hulpverleners en internationale organisaties zijn de meeste slachtoffers vrouwen en kinderen. Bronnen bij het Israëlische leger hebben eerder gezegd dat er bijna 20.000 Hamas-militanten zijn "uitgeschakeld", waar dat cijfer op is gebaseerd is niet duidelijk. In januari spraken Israël en Hamas een staakt-het-vuren af, na ruim vijftien maanden oorlog. Maar inmiddels voert Israël weer luchtaanvallen uit op Gaza en is het land ook weer met grondtroepen aanwezig in het gebied. Afgelopen nacht kwamen er zeker 26 Palestijnen om bij luchtaanvallen, aldus de autoriteiten in Gaza. Op dit moment wordt er niet gesproken over een eventuele nieuwe fase in het staakt-het-vuren tussen Israël en Hamas, waarbij Hamas alle nog overgebleven Israëlische gijzelaars vrijlaat in ruil voor een permanent bestand en de volledige terugtrekking van het Israëlische leger uit Gaza. Beide partijen beschuldigen elkaar van het torpederen van de onderhandelingen.

After the #Trump-#Putin phone call, it was reported that #Moscow agreed to #ceasefire against energy infrastructure. They struck these targets only a few hours later. They also bombed a hospital.

Putin said that the aid to #Ukraine was discussed. Trump said it wasn't. Trump again talked about "Ukrainian soldiers being encircled in #Kursk" - no such thing is happening.

It's just #lies, lies and lies from both sides.

#putin has made it clear that he seeks only to prolong this #war. The world cannot allow him to dictate the terms of #peace.
