Omg. This story about the British 28yr old comic book artist and backpacker, staying at workaways and living her best life only to be detained at ICE jail when she tried to go to Canada. Guys SHE DREW PICTURES OF HER CELLMATES. 😢 this is a movie script.

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/a

and the unexpected, complicit, villain?

The Canada Border Services Agents!! 😡 😤

Why the hell are we turning these obvious tourists back into the hands of ICE!?

As a Canadian I am embarrassed and infuriated. A directive must be put out to Canadian border guards to show leniency!!

The story about the Canadian woman who ended up in an ICE prison is detailed here. Sounds like having a US Visa is a liability now tourist, or work… and if you have any kind of trouble with it or do anything that might be perceived as troublesome, expect trouble at the border.

The best advice for people in this article: if you need to renew your visa, do it at an airport on Canadian soil so you can’t be sent to a US prison.

“She was told they'd have to send her back to Canada. But as Mooney sat searching for flights home on her phone she says that a man appeared and told her to come with him.
She knew something was way off when they pulled the shoelaces from her sneakers.
"Later I found out that's so you don't hang yourself in jail," said Mooney.”

Jasmine Mooney was detained and held in immigration detention centres after attempting to apply for a visa and enter the U.S. from Mexico. Her lawyer says she's an example of shifts in how the U.S. is handling travellers

I know people who grew up on the US Border in Vancouver in the 60s and 70s. The border was a ditch they could walk or ride across as kids and go to the corner store. Those days ended years ago, but they are almost unthinkable now.

The warnings from Canada on travel to the US are frankly deeply shocking.

“The federal government updated its travel advisory on Friday, warning Canadians of possible detention should one be denied entry to the United States.
“Comply and be forthcoming in all interactions with border authorities,” reads the advisory. “If you are denied entry, you could be detained while awaiting deportation.”
The government also warned that travellers should expect to be heavily questioned and may have their electronic devices searched.

“Individual border agents often have significant discretion in making those determinations,” the advisory reads. “U.S. authorities strictly enforce entry requirements. Expect scrutiny at ports of entry, including of electronic devices.””

CTVNews · Canadians should ‘expect scrutiny’ at U.S. border crossings, feds warnThe Canadian government is warning those headed to the United States to expect to be scrutinized by border authorities, telling travellers to be forthcoming during any interaction with customs agents.

"I’ve practiced as an Assistant AG of Massachusetts. If I had showed up in court and said this, I would expect to have been held in contempt and even taken into custody. I cannot understand why the court system refuses to treat these fascists the same way," replied Dave Cavell, head speechwriter for former Vice President Kamala Harris.

There is a gangster beating the shit out of the world, but America, the nation capable of stopping him, is a cesspool of shitty laws and a piece of shit Constitution so poorly written that gangsters took over one of the only 2 political parties capable of winning nationwide under its 19th century "genius," and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it except "vote harder" in a nation with 400,000,000 guns.

The Russian mob bought the Republican party. Then the House. Then the Senate. Then the Supreme Court.

The mighty US military kneels before its fully unzipped dictator.

A conference that I was supposed to attend in Washington DC in June has been cancelled because of the unacceptable risk to attendees coming from outside the US. It will instead be held virtually. #Trump is just as bad for the US as COVID! This came after 2 people associated with the organizers were asked if they supported Trump at the border and were refused entry into the US when they said no.

U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D., a Democrat, held a "telephone town hall" a few days ago.

With 12,000 people.

In Oregon.

The district she represents includes most of the east side of Portland and reaches into Gresham. There is a large minority population here, and I imagine they are up in arms about what is going on at the federal level.

She's holding an in-person town hall next Sunday, April 6th at 3:30 pm at Parkrose Middle School in Portland. I wonder if the turnout will equal or surpass the telephone version.

RFK Jr was directly asked in Long Covid research would be a priority, and he immediately pivots into vaccine injury research.

By the end of the 60 second clip, he’s calling long covid and Lyme disease “injuries”

This man is exceedingly dangerous to the chronically ill AND those who still have their health.

He’s sowing distrust in vaccines which will lead to preventable death and disability, while also trying to blame the vaccines for many chronic illness.

While vaccine injuries do happen, they’re thankfully rare.

You know what’s not rare? Long Covid. 1 in 10 will develop LC after a Covid infection, with many experts saying the number is probably closer to 1 in 5.

Measles are on the rise due to declining vaccination rates. 2-3 children will die for every 1000 measles cases, and many more will be left disabled.

Get your boosters while you still can!

Fantastic news! Long Covid research grants restored due to the efforts of advocates all over the country.

Never let anyone silence you or convince you that your voice doesn’t matter.

We all have power, and even those of us who are disabled can make a difference in our own way.

Speak up, demand accountability and work together. Change is possible!

I don’t have many U.S. followers here but, if you are one, I’m curious: Prior to the election, how many of you were aware or ever considered that a second Trump administration would set its sights on the Panama Canal, Greenland and Canada? #uspoli

“A smaller country living beside an enormous one cannot rely only on legal structures and treaty language. To have any real comfort it must assume a certain level of decency from the stronger party. That type of trust takes a very long time to establish, and Trump has annihilated it in a matter of weeks.”
