Classic style and art deco glamour adorns the front entrance of the Candler Building built in 1904. This black and white photograph captures the ornate carvings of people, lions, leaves and scrollwork in the stone entryway. The 17 story skyscraper back in its heyday is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Located on Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta this historic building is a hotel that one can stay in.

Là, où se trouvait dans le temps la grand poste de Namur, à côté de la gare, un nouveau bâtiment (et même un quasi nouveau quartier là où se trouvaient divers bâtiments et terrains de la SNCB) a vu le jour à sa place, l'étage inférieur est occupé par l'espace Wallonie.

La carte postale (à titre de comparaison) permet de voir l'ancienne poste.

The new building next to the railway station replaces the old building where the main Post office was (it's almost a new district that has been built in this area on old SNCB/NMBS grounds). The street level is occupied by a Wallonia information center where citizens can get lots of informations.

Lit double-door entrance to the Art Nouveau 'Roosenboom House' in Brussels, in the evening. Those doors are composed of mahogany wood panels carved with vegetal patterns at the bottom, the tops are composed with transparent stainglass windows ornated with light green iron vegetal patterns. The door handles are also made of sculpted iron works with vegetal patterns and are also painted in light green. The door on the right is open, partly revealing the beauty of this mansion and its mosaic floor. The lighting from inside enhances the beauty and dreamy effect of the irons patterns.

The Five Continents.

So, this is not some sort of AI generated photo, but it is a real existing building.

If you are ever in the city of Antwerp, be sure not to miss ‘The Five Continents’ an Art-Deco building colloquially known as ‘the boat house’ or ‘the little boat’ for it’s facade which has a balcony in the form of a ship.

Built in 1901 to the plans of architect Frans Smet-Verhas and commissioned by the boat builder Petrus Roeis, it was sold 2 years ago for funny money (a 2 and 6 zero’s) to a lawyer firm.

Wooden house.

Don’t be fooled. This is NOT the oldest house in #Antwerp. However, it is the oldest house in Antwerp with a wooden facade. Dating from 1546 it has survived 6 wars although sadly, due to a restoration in the ‘70s the facade has had a transformation and isn’t original anymore.
