Damn! Streets of Rage 2 is really fucking good. I...didn't expect it to cure me of not liking beat 'em ups. 🤯

I made it to Shiva on easy mode, which I think is the penultimate boss of the game? Anyhow, I immediately started the game back up on normal. I finally figured out a few special moves (forward, forward, punch!!) in the last stage and with that knowledge I was able to breeze through the first three stages with only two or three lives. :party_parrot:
Now I'm interested in Streets of Rage 4, which is also supposed to be very good. 🤔
Then again I also tried Shredder's Revenge a few months ago and bounced off hard. Maybe SoR 2 is just the exception.
Any other recommendations to test my theory? 😅

Finally had some time to play games again, so I looked into some Genesis games I missed as a kid. I got up to Spring Yard Zone 3 in Sonic, played some Rocket Knight Adventures and then Streets of Rage 2.
Didn't care too much for Sonic. I find the stages very confusing and the boss fights tend to be pretty trivial. Apart from Green Hill there's also barely any "gotta go fast", cause there are so many traps that punish carelessness. And my eyes and brain started hurting in the bonus stage when everything blinks and rotates and shit. 😅
Rocket Knight is amazing. Charming sprites, tons of interesting ideas, but it's haaaaaard. They don't make 'em like this anymore. 😅
And then I was surprised at how much fun I had mashing my way through Streets of Rage 2. I'm not a big fan of beat 'em ups, but this one's genuinely fun and very forgiving, especially when played on easy.
